Food retailing sales increased 0.1%. Non-food retail trade (except automotive fuel retail) declined 5.7%, but automotive fuel retail turnover increased 1.4 %.

Compared with October 2020, the most notable increase in turnover was recorded in retail sale via mail order houses or via the Internet (by 22.1%), retail sale on stalls or markets (15.3%) and the retail trade of pharmaceutical and medical products (12.5%).

From 20 October stricter security conditions were introduced in shopping areas with the aim of drastically reducing clutter and contact in public places, which is probably part of the reason why online ordering has become much more popular.

Total retail turnover at current prices increased by 4.5% (excluding calendar influence).

Compared with September, the total turnover of retail businesses in October 2021 was down 5.3%, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices. Food retail sales increased 2.7%. Non-food retail trade (except automotive fuel retail) decreased 12.6%, but automotive fuel retail turnover – 1.7% .
