About work
Job Purpose – Indicates the reason for the job:

  • The Head of Sales is responsible for providing strategic and policy direction and managing the overall performance of the sales team.
  • The incumbent’s sole responsibility is to provide policy direction to the sales force towards the achievement of corporate objectives through the development of the marketing and sales vision and mission.
  • He/She is also responsible for ensuring profitable returns on all company products sold through the various SBUs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor and react to market trends, environmental changes, political and social implications, competitor activities and consumer preferences with a view to increasing market share across all product lines year over year.
  • Develop strategies for upgrading our outlets, structures and equipment to improve sales.
  • Develop strategies and plans for promoting products and service offerings.
  • Manage and increase the profitability of all products sold.
  • Build a high performing sales force with a deep understanding and appreciation of the downstream oil market.
  • Ensure the achievement and respect of our business credit strategy.
  • Provide leadership to regions for effective performance and profit contribution.
  • Oversee regional operations activities and ensure regions receive adequate support to achieve assigned volume goals
  • Develop marketing strategies to achieve the objectives of increasing product revenues, reducing operational costs as well as achieving departmental objectives.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate customer service strategies and manage customer relationships
  • Ensure full compliance with Control and Standard policies and EHSSQ as it relates to sales
  • Give management attention to all CASOM action points and drive to close on time.
  • Make sure every member of your team is CASOM compliant.
  • Plan, direct/assist in aggressive monitoring and auditing of critical EHSSQ assets such as plants, terminals, LPG, retail outlets and other facilities to prevent all unsafe conditions and practices by employees and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure deployment and full implementation of business continuity (disaster recovery) strategies such as emergency response, oil spill contingency plan and monitor compliance via drills.
  • Liaise with HEHSSQ / oversight agencies and ensure compliance with OVHEM EHSSQ statutory requirements such as licenses / permits etc.

Academic qualification and work experience

  • A good university degree (preferably with a master’s degree)
  • 12 to 15 years of experience in a Marketing/Sales function in the oil and gas industry
